Educational trail created by children for children
History of the trail
As part of an educational project, nine classes from the Pestalozzi primary school in Yverdon-les-Bains created a playful nature trail in 2005. The trail was given a facelift in 2015.
This project was made possible thanks to the support of the municipal authorities of Yverdon-les-Bains, Villars-Epeney and Cheseaux-Noréaz, as well as numerous sponsors, and with the help on the ground of the forestry inspector and his team.
The approach
- Pupils take the subjects that interest them and study them themselves.
- Classes call on resource people and make field visits.
- The interaction between the forestry team, the classes and the support of the local authorities ensure the success of the project.
The main objectives
- To help students discover the riches of nature (beauty, usefulness, fragility, etc.) and learn to respect flora and fauna.
- To gather information (through direct observation, surveys of professionals, use of documents, etc.).
- Offer a purposeful outing to families in the region and to the general public.
